Packaging

Packaging should protect contents during storage and transport and should be light. As a packaging material, aluminium offers the following beneficial properties: impermeability to light, liquids and gases, low specific weight, ease of manufacturing the packaging (thanks to ease of forming and/or laminating) as well as not posing a risk to health. It has therefore been used for packaging since 1911. Transport over longer distances, greater demands on hygiene and product shelf-life and changing shopping habits have led to an increasing diversity of packaging. The most important fields of application are: foodstuffs, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and pet food as well as packaging of household and industrial chemical products. The packaging includes aerosol and spray cans, tubes, trays, blisters, bags and pouches, bottles, barrels and containers for trade and industry.
