and heat-treatment plant, high-bay warehouse and packaging line
AMAG rolling in Ranshofen has placed an order with the SMS group in Düsseldorf for the delivery of a cold rolling mill, a heat-treatment line with attached passivation plant, a high-bay warehouse and a packaging line. This will supply key equipment of the AMAG 2020 investment project for the manufacture of cold-rolled aluminium sheet and strip in the highest of quality, all supplied from one source from the SMS group. The plants are to be put into operation in 2017.
Due to its high flexibility for processing the wide spectrum of products with strip widths of more than two metres, SMS will deliver a sexto-type cold rolling plant with CVC-plus technology (Continuously Variable Crown). The rolling mill has extensive control elements to produce tight product tolerances and is equipped with X-Pact control systems. The exhaust from the rolling process will be efficiently cleaned by an Airwash system and the recovered oil fed back into the production process in an environmentally friendly way.
With the investment, AMAG will be raising its production capacity for special sheet for car bodies (outer shell and structure) in particular, as well as for modern passenger aircraft, but also for all other strip products in AMAG's portfolio, such as packaging. The equipment will make the Ranshofen plant in Austria a top location in the aluminium industry. In future it will have one of the world's highest-performing and most modern production plants for lightweight production sheet.
