Nespresso and Constellium are cooperating in the recycling of used coffee capsules. This collaboration is part of the "Second Life" project that will be carried out in Switzerland where Nespresso has its headquarters. The aim of the campaign is to integrate sustainability into Nespresso's entire value-added chain by recycling the colourful coffee capsules and by doing that, giving them a second life.
For the Second Life programme, Constellium will leverage its expertise in the field of metal supply and recycling, with the help of its aluminium casting and rolling plant in Singen, Germany. The collected capsules will be recycled in Constellium's Singen plant and will be used as base material for new coffee capsules. On top of that typical, iconic Swiss products will be produced, which will be available in the summer for a limited time in Victorinox and Nespresso shops throughout Switzerland.
"We are very proud to work hand in hand with Nespresso to advance sustainability and innovation in Europe," said Catherine Athènes, Leader Sustainability, Constellium. "Recycling has always been an integral part of our business model and we are pleased that Nespresso chose us to lead the recycling of its coffee capsules."
As industry leader in the area of sustainability, it is Constellium's goal to make these conditions a reality by participating in collection, sorting and recycling initiatives in markets where it is active.
