The Austrian aluminium specialist Hammerer Aluminium Industries (HAI) is taking over 100 percent of the German LEAN Extrusions GmbH. Already last year this aluminium plant, with facilities in Singen at Lake Constance, produced high-gloss aluminium parts for HAI as 50 percent joint venture. “We will continue to turn this plant into a small but excellent specialist for precision profiles, and high-gloss and decorative parts, which are perfect for offering to automobile manufacturers together with our products as complete package. The takeover is going through on the most amicable of terms with the former co-owner, the firm Alumero. With its strong focus on special products, the future of the location at Lake Constance is assured,” explains Rob van Gils, CEO of the HAI Group.

International cost pressure can also be clearly felt in the aluminium processing industry. A small plant such as that in Singen has the best development prospects if it targets a special niche. “With HAI Lean Extrusions we are continuing to go down the road of systematically developing and producing high-standard products for top customers. By serving niches with the highest in manufacturing and product quality, we will certainly be successful in finding our growth markets, even in this continuing challenging market environment,” declares CEO Rob van Gils. Among others HAI Lean Extrusions will produce lightweight decorative trims for the automotive sector.

HAI Lean Extrusions in southern German Singen employs around 25 workers. The structures and processes will be integrated in the overall enterprise, Hammerer Aluminium Industries. “Once all the processes and central services such as technology development or quality management are managed by HAI’s central offices in Ranshofen, it will give an additional boost to synergy effects,” says CEO Rob van Gils.
